Some of Peru’s famous landmarks include the ruins of
“lost cities” that were thriving before the Europeans arrived. The Inca are the
most well-known of Peru’s indigenous people who lived long ago but there were
other advanced civilizations, too. A traveler can see the Moche pyramids and
the Nazca lines, both proof that the Inca weren’t always in charge. The
geography of Peru with its mountains, deserts, and jungles allowed many
different cultures to develop in isolation from others. Mixing of the cultures
began when the Inca moved conquered tribes to different parts of their
kingdoms. After Spain conquered Peru, people came from all over the world seeking
gold . This mixture of cultures created the vibrant Peruvian culture of today.
